Q&A with Antonis Georgiadis, Business Development Manager at Finalto

Antonis Georgiadis is an Institutional Business Development Manager based in Finalto’s Cyprus office.

With a background as a maths expert and educator, Antonis combines analytical precision with a genuine passion for helping clients succeed. His role is about more than securing business, it’s about building partnerships that deliver long-term value.

Tell us about a day the life of an Institutional Business Development Manager at Finalto Cyprus

On paper, my job is to connect with institutional clients, brokers and hedge funds  and present what Finalto can offer, and finalise agreements. In practice, it’s much deeper. Every client has unique goals, so it’s about understanding their business and delivering tailored solutions,  whether that’s Prime of Prime liquidity, technology, or risk management.

Closing the deal is just the first step. The real work begins afterwards: staying close, monitoring performance, and making adjustments to ensure they’re getting maximum value from our relationship.

Why is that important to you?

I’ve been in finance for over a decade, but my foundation  in mathematics and  an educational background taught me the value of enabling others to succeed. Clients don’t just want a vendor, they need a partner who understands their challenges and is invested in their growth. When they succeed, the relationship grows stronger, and both sides benefit.

So closing the deal isn’t the end of your relationship with a client?

Far from it. Closing the deal is just the first milestone; the relationship truly starts after that.

I stay in close contact with clients and often act as a bridge between them and Finalto’s specialist teams, whether that’s Technology, Liquidity, Risk, or another department. Our Client Services team is exceptional, but the personal relationships I’ve built mean I can often connect clients to the right people and solutions faster.

Speaking the client’s language – whether it’s technical, operational, or market-focused – is key. It allows me to escalate and resolve issues quickly, but also to spot opportunities before they become problems.

There’s also a proactive side to my role: I regularly monitor how clients are performing and step in if I see areas for improvement. That could mean adjusting liquidity streams, optimising technology setups, or working with them to adapt their risk approach.

In essence, my role blends business development, client success, and retention. Winning the business is important, but helping clients grow is where the real value lies. A satisfied client doesn’t just stay, they often introduce new opportunities and partnerships.

Like many of your Finalto colleagues, you speak several languages. Do you find that this ability helps you build rapport across different markets? How important is it, in your experience, to understand the various cultural nuances and market requirements across regions?

Absolutely. Language is a key part of building trust and rapport.

Speaking Greek, English , Bulgarian and Serbian lets me connect with clients on a personal level. Communicating in someone’s native language removes barriers and makes discussions flow more naturally.

It’s also about understanding cultural context – different markets have different business practices , negotiation styles and regulatory expectations. Recognising those nuances helps me provide solutions that genuinely fit each client’s needs.

In a global Prime of Prime environment like Finalto’s, that adaptability is essential to making clients feel understood and supported , wherever they are.

What makes Cyprus a key location for the industry?

Cyprus sits at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa,  an ideal location for connecting with a wide range of markets. Add to that the stability of EU regulation, a mature forex ecosystem, and a large concentration of brokers, and it’s clear why having a local, experienced team here is invaluable.

What keeps you interested in the role?

Finance is never static. Markets shift daily, influenced by everything from economic data to political events. My background in mathematics helps me spot patterns and interpret movements, but my curiosity keeps me learning.

For me, every day is an opportunity to strengthen relationships, solve challenges, and help clients navigate a complex, fast-moving market. In the Prime of Prime space, that mix of expertise, trust, and adaptability is what creates lasting success.
